Sometimes friends and I hit the thrifts and antique malls and come away with a trunkload of treasures. And other times-- like recently-- the goodies are few and far between. But that doesn't mean the finds we did uncover were any less appreciated... Or, in the case of this week, green.
Not "green" as in environmental either (though buying resale isn't a bad idea for that). Just green.
Like my favorite item of the day, this terrific chenille bedspread...
As you can see, it's already washed up and on the bed in my spare room. No rips or holes, chenille spreads like this always remind me a bit of a fondant cake with icing. Just makes me happy to look at it!
Then there was this cute little green McCoy planter from the Fleatique in Ligonier...
I hadn't seen this particular style before, and as the price was right, I snapped it up. These are a great way to both display a collection and showcase some true greenery.
I found this interesting aqua pottery candlestick holder at the Good Samaritan Thrift Store, keeping the green-toned theme....
But, then I kinda blew it with this wholly non-green transferware shaving mug and brush...
But at just $2.99 for the both of them, I didn't end up shelling out a lot of green for it, anyway. (Ha, see how we tied that green theme in there?...
Hey, it's 5am for me, and I'm just caffeinated, so I'm grateful for what minor brainpower I get... )
So, that's our Treasure Box for this week!
There are some fascinating folks who visit, and I think we can learn a lot from each other. Once again, I'd like to thank everyone for their time and their personal stories! I've really enjoyed reading what you're interested in.

I heart the candlestick!
That bedspread is just lovely, as are the pillows! What great finds for sure!!!
I'm loving that chenille bedspread! I just adore the look of that fabric. It's like artwork for your bed! I saw an estate sale ad for this weekend. Lots of fiesta ware which made me think of the "Romantic" and her incredible collection. May be worth your time if thrifting is in a slump right now. Who knows? Take a look if you'd like... http://www.estatesales.net/estate-sales/105912.aspx
Keep em' coming Jenn! Love your posts!!
TexNan- Thank you-- I think I'm going to get a lot of use from it!
Coloradolady- The pillows over time came from thrifts and some antique malls. I can't recall which ones anymore, specifically, but thank you. They're fun. They're from around World War II.
Colleen- I'm totally with you on the great look of chenille. It evokes such a specific feeling of times past. And thanks a bunch for the estate sale link!!
Love that bedspread! That candlestick is so pretty, love love that color.
What great finds!! I was trying to get a better glimpse of the table that you have next to the bed. Is it two tone? It looks so pretty! Would you consider posting a close up pic of it?
Debbie
Linda- Doesn't color just make all the difference in how we feel about something? Funny how that is!
Debbie- Oh, sure, I can do that with my next post on Sunday. I have two similar sewing tables (the one you were looking at doesn't have a machine in it, it's just a table). They were Singer sewing machine stands from the 1970s. One on one side of the bed was my mother's, and this one I got off eBay.
I painted each one with a bit of white to make them a little more Shabby Chic and a little less 70s Colonial.
Jenn, Thanks so much! The table looks so charming that i really want to get a good look at it! LOL!! Can't wait to see it!!
Debbie
The chenille bedspread is unbelievable...I am always on the lookout for vintage chenille...fabulous find!!!

Chenille reminds me of being 12 and getting my own bedroom for the first time. I had a chenille bedspread, of course; I think everyone did back then.
I'd like to have one again! Yours is very pretty.
Jenn,
You found some gems. I love the bedding!
Theresa
Debbie- I will definitely try to remember to take pics. I'll probably need to write myself a reminder note. :)
Janis- Chenille bedspreads with much color or pattern to them are kinda hard to find these days. I'm surprised no one else had snapped this one up.
Sandy- Oh, what color did you have? Somehow I'm picturing a sunny yellow for some reason... Don't know why.
Theresa- Hey, thank you! :)
Heya, Debbie- I didn't forget about you and the table. I just got sidelined trying to update something else last night which took longer than I expected.
I'll post the table pics with Wednesday's post. That'll be a good fit, anyway. :)
