A visit to the countryside around Western Pennsylvania offered plenty of souvenirs of this dry and dusty fall. The leaves are changing, yes, but crackle... Orange and browns mix and swirl in the Indian summer wind.
I thought you all might enjoy coming with me for a minute, as we savor the signs of autumnm and we listen to what our friend the woollybear caterpillar says...
"Harsher winter in the beginning, milder toward spring."
We'll see if our furry worm friend proves accurate!
It was a clear day yesterday for photos, but as for a kaleidoscope of color, well, it may not appear this year...
Still, I was nuts about this pair of happy acorns...
And the pumpkins await Halloween with brave faces...
The gourds offer a bountiful cornucopia of color...
Barns stand still and quiet awaiting next year's potential...
Weatherbeaten and waiting...
Afternoon sun casts long shadows through the lacy pine trees...
And we keep snapshots of 2010 because this year, like every year, goes by in a blur...
Wishing you a bountiful, beautiful week ahead of you!

Love the photos. Pennsylvania is gorgeous, especially in the Fall. I live in Philadelphia, myself. And I don't get to see the farmlands nearly enough as I should.
But on another note, that furry worm friend looks like a mustache crawling along the ground.
Love it.
Jackie- You're not far from Bucks County, though, and I remember that being GORGEOUS in autumn.
And yes, he really does have a whole mustache thing going on, doesn't he? :) I felt compelled to pet him, and he was about as soft as my cat.
Probably not as trainable, though. :)
Right, you are Jenn. Bucks County has a lot to offer around this time of year. Especially hay rides, pumpkin patches and buckets of hot apple cider. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the thrift stores. I always seem to have better luck in Bucks than Philly when it comes to thrifting!
Jackie- I haven't been thrifting there, but I have really enjoyed the flea markets-- Lahaska and the Golden Nugget were big haunts for me when I was a kid and lived in Jersey.
Lovely area!!
