Treasure Box Wednesday: Time Flies Calendar Giveaway

My, my, time flies!

Okay, so that's the name of an Enya song. But it's also one of the reasons three of you good people can get a little bit of treasure for yourself on this Treasure Box Wednesday.

You see, I happened to have gotten entirely more cute Victorian Trading Company magnet calendars than I needed. And I figured, a couple of you folks should benefit from my mistake!

So here's how it's going to work. I'll put anyone who responds here (who is not a spammer, mind you-- spammers get no goodies) into a drawing for one of these three nifty calendars. Just post your response to the following question by midnight Pacific Time Saturday, January the 16th.

Then Sunday I'll put all of your names into a suitably vintage container and do the drawing.

And the question is:

  • What holidays or occasions during the year do you decorate for other than, possibly, Christmas? And what do you do for them?
I thought this might be a fun conversation to get going!

Or, if you'd rather, you can always check out Sunday's post on "The Little Things"...

I've greatly enjoyed reading your enthused responses to it-- I had suspected you were a group of people who appreciated the small joys of life, too. And know I know for sure!

If it's a holiday I try to do some decorating. I love Valentine's day and do a table setting of love! I also enjoy spring and start with bunnies, eggs, and lots of lovely flowers. I could go on and on but I guess one of my favorite things is to have coffee cups for each holiday season and use them! It's a reminder for me each morning of the present 'season' so to speak.

From Memorial Day to Labor Day, a visit to my home might make you want to stand up and salute! I have Americana decor anywhere I can put it- from red, white and blue bannners draping gayly over the back patio railings to a 4-foot wooden Uncle Sam greeting you at the front door! I "summerize", taking down heavier drapes and hanging airy sheer white panels. It works out well- I cover all the "Patriotic" holidays; Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4th and finally Labor Day. Then the Americana comes down to make way for fall.

Not much fun here, but I'm a spring girl. I would have tulips and daffodils everywhere all year.

I decorate for most of the holidays. Valentine's Day brings out anything white/red/pink, including pink depression glass and milk glass. St.Patrick's day means green depression glass, leprechauns and clovers. Easter means lots of flowers, bunnies and eggs. 4th of July/Labor Day, lots of red/white/blue and flags. Halloween is typical. My favorite time of year to decorate is Fall. If I thought I could get away with keeping pumpkins out all year 'round, I'd do it!

I decorate for back to school. Maybe more a parents holiday. I use banners and streamers. Most of the stuff comes from the Dollar Tree. It helps to get the kids ready for what is going to happen the end of Aug. Always sad to see summer end though.

Hi,

I primarily decorate around the four seasons - so I have Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter themed decorations that I try to get up early in each season. I do add a few special items for special holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day and the 4th of July. The basic things I change are my outside door hangings, table cloths, place mats, and candles (color or scent).

Love the Thrift Shop Romantic articles!

I guess I mostly do summer in flowers etc. and then Thanksgiving or the fall season.

I decorate for all the main holidays and the four seasons as they come throughout the year, in part thanks to a tabletop feather tree that I have in the dining room. Currently I have a winter theme going (snowmen, snowflakes), then it'll be on to Valentine's Day, Easter, spring, summer, Fourth of July, fall, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Did I leave anything out?

I decorate for Easter/Mardi Gras and of course, Christmas. But, I haven't really had a chance to think about that until you asked the question. Maybe I will start decorating for more holidays. Also, I think when my hubby and I have kids I will decorate more. But, then again, maybe I'll be too busy.

For Easter/Mardi Gras we do an Easter Tree with eggs but in Mardi Gras colors (Purple, Green and Gold). Also, I like to hang a wreath outside.

Love your blog!

I mostly just do Thanksgiving and Christmas. Way more for Christmas than any other time of year. This year I did a lot outdoors for Halloween, but not much indoors. I'd like to decorate more for Valentine's but really don't have room to store things.

Hi Jenn, love the calendars. I decorate for Easter, because I love all of the bunnies, chicks and pastel colors of the eggs. I sprinkle various collectibles throughout the house, but mainly in the dining room. I also decorate for the other major holidays, but Easter is my favorite other than Christmas, of course.

I love fall. The colors..orange, brown, red, gold, green..once mid-September hits, I start throwing things around my apartment and hang a wreath on my door. I love to sit outside and smell burning leaves..there is just a great feel to fall.
P.S. love your blog here..just stumbled on it the other day. I have a thrifting road trip tomorrow morning with my sister planned..feels like xmas eve tonight! :)

Fourth of July. It's the wife's birthday so she has the entire house festooned in red, white, and blue. Leading up to the big day, she dresses in the same colors. Her final bit of decoration, on the 4th, she has a new flag shirt or other appropriately colored clothing for yours truly.
